1280 (128q?)
I went to 1280 for the first time today with Reeves. Needless to say that it furthers my belief that "you don't have to try something to know you'll hate it."
Waitress
The waitress was alright, she came by a few times when we weren't ready to order and came by once during our meal. Although, she was nowhere to be found when I wanted my water to be refilled. XD Oh well, bad timing.
Wait
So we waited and waited. Good thing both Reeves and I can keep a conversation. Now, I didn't keep time because I don't carry anything on me but it took over a good half hour. And all we ordered was a poutine and a burger. As others have mentioned, I think that's an unacceptable wait for a student bar. Even if I enjoyed the meal, forget about coming in to grab lunch during a 50 minute break. Wouldn't happen.
Food
Considering how disgusting the poutine was, I don't understand how it could have taken that long to cook. Now, I don't expect poutines in Ontario to have some nice Chalifoux cheese curds, but at least have some cheese curds. That's what a freakin' poutine is. Instead, it was grated cheddar (I think) with some gross gravy. To top it off, the fries were ROCK SOLID. It was like biting into a stack of chips, or something equivalently as crunchy/hard.
Decor
Finally, the interior decorating is disgusting. And to think that someone got paid to do that. >_<
Verdict
I don't know why anyone would return to that place.
And I'm pretty happy I only owe Reeves $4.25

Lmfao I can actually hear your voice when I'm reading that. But ironically, I find it much easier to "read" it in Mark's voice. Maybe cause I spoke to him twice today.

The wait is always bad at 1280, it really is ridiculous, but the food is cheap and usually decently good so I do go there whenever I have the time to endure the epic wait (I'm a fan of only paying $20 for a 2 course meal for 2 ).

They have a decent amount of good cheap food there. Definitely a place to only go for a good LONG conversation though.
And Cheri, what on earth are you doing ordering poutine in Ontario? If you're french, you can be nothing but disappointed.
Of course, I now want poutine from Chez Pauline over in Quebec :(
I miss those Saturday trips into town from my camp.
(note: I'm not french, it was an english wilderness camp)

I've only been to 1280 once. Ordered a burger and lattice fries. The burger was smaller than the ones they give you at Phoenix, but at least the lattice fries weren't half-bad. Still, the whole experience made me wish I was at Phoenix instead.

What kind of annoyed me was that they didn't bring the food out all at once.
I went with two friends of mine, I got my food first (after like a 40 minute wait mind you), and had to wait another 20 minutes for them to get their food before I began eating. Needless to say, my food had gotten cold by then.

Hahah, I know, but honestly, I thought everything else on the menu was way over priced (although the pasta seemed reasonable, I just didn't wanna spend 10 bucks) and the poutine was the only thing that appealed to me.
I'm often disappointed but that 1280 poutine was REALLY horrible. Normally the poutines are at least edible.

I know I may get some cold stares for saying this, but does anyone else thing that 1280 should *not* be run by students?
Or at least run by someone with restaurant management experience? How does the Phoenix do it? I've heard they pull the restaurant/bar thing off well.

It isn't run by students. It's owned by the MSU, and it answers to the BoD, but the management are all adult full-time managers with experience.
The management that has been there for awhile now (through Quarters and this year of 1280) are leaving this summer and will be replaced accordingly.
