I don't think the government has decided to raise prices just because university students are going back to school.

You mean WADS has a problem with students? Those ~5 crazy people from westdale who seem to think they represent all non-students living there?
They just make me mad.
And isn't it important to stay hydrated??

The government will always have something up their sleeves. Just like current OLG- with bans and whatnot.

For some reason, I'm pretty worried about drinking and frosh week; I'm worried that thats ALL people are going to want to do at night and that I'll never be able to sleep. If I don't get more than six hours of sleep every night, I get ill. Its not pretty. ><

There are quiet hours implemented. If people are partying and it's disturbing you then you can page the CA about it. I didn't have any problems with parties though. It definitively depends on your residence and the people it contains.

Fun fact: your welcome week reps *will* wake you up early.

Are there any parties during frosh week? Or do you just get drunk out on the streets?

Just to clarify: a lot of first years on MacInsiders seem to think that ALL anyone does during WW is drink. So far from true.
Drunk on the streets? LOL, no way. Maybe during the PJ parade, but they changed that this year. For the most part, you go to welcome week events, hang out with random people you may never see again and do random things that you'll probably never forget. A lot of events end pretty late, so although there probably will be parties on res at night... it's not by any means as rowdy and wild as you'd see on tv, and you're not obligated to go. Hang out with your new roommates, your welcome week reps, get to know your new home.
Welcome Week is not an a week long excuse to be completely tanked.

Drinking is overrated. I don't understand why Alcohol is so hyped in certain faculties(eng, sci) on faculty day in WW when you know most of the first years are underage... Gives students the wrong idea about a university...

Exactly. I know its not the be-all-end-all but sometimes it seems to be; I know I have the wrong idea of University in general because of stories and media portrayal.
Damn media.

Science doesn't hype drinking on faculty day... sorry. I've been involved with Science since first year, and we've never hyped drinking at all (we do hype being naked however )
And as for why people get so excited about drinking is because first (and second years) are still getting used to their freedom, and they still find partying super hard and binge drinking fun and exciting... I can tell you as a fourth year that I much prefer going to a pub with friends for a couple of beers and good conversation over hard partying any day.

I m not sure if I am right but last year, didn't all the science kids wear a black T-shirt with a half-full martini glass on the back or the front and I am sure it described something in regards to alcohol/drinking...

People actually drink beer for it's taste and different flavours, not just to get drunk. And if you're going to mention content of alcohol why not just drink liquor then?
Definitely no need to worry about drinking. There are select groups that DO drink every night and party every night, but of course it's university so you can pick and choose what you do and with whom. I do suggest to get most of the partying out of the way though if you want to, before school starts up. Mid-terms come so fast it's a slap to the face haha.

You should also know that having an open container of alcohol in public is illegal in Ontario.
