The only time MSAF has rustled my jimmies was last semester in 2Z03 since the deferred test was exactly the same as the original test. When it came time for the exam I heard two guys talking about how they had a 98 in the course due to getting the answers off their friends and sticking them on the deferred tests.

Other than that I found the system useful last week when I was a walking zombie enjoying an unnecessarily long bout of the flu since I didn't have to go drive to a doctor while in a state where I'd probably have fallen asleep at the wheel.

I think a rational person would use MSAF every term. If you don't you're at a statistical disadvantage to the people that do.

It's a holiday that everyone's entitled to and YOU get to choose when to take it!

You might do best to save this holiday for when you're sick of course. Or not!

Or if you get the satisfaction from saying "I never used MSAF!" then don't and get that satisfaction.

Stress is an illness that causes many illnesses =p.

The MSAF is fine how it is, remember you can only defer things that are worth 30% or less. Even having it back to 2 times a term would be good. I don't think it had the 30% rule last year.

Things happen, people get sick or busy or have other commitments but if it's worth a large chunk of your mark you should really plan ahead. In any case the relief is in the instructors hands, so if it bothers them they can make a gruesome alternative so no one will think of using it.

What baffles me with the MSAF is how they accept it for assignments that are submitted online. I guess its not worth the time for the registrar to dig into which assignments require hard copies.
Ex. Someone using an MSAF on CAPA 0.o

This being said use it wisely ever student gets 1 per semester so it doesnt put anyone other at an advantage over you.

Also I totally agree with the doctor notes though. But I don't think the school can do anything about that. At least the MSAF levels the field for those without those connections lol. They can't fight the "legitimate" piece of paper with the scratchy writing.

I don't really care what people do about their own deferrals/tests/midterms, etc., but it sucks that if people keep using the MSAF without needing to, the school might take it away which will hurt the students who actually need it.
Oh well. Not much you can do.
