Bio 2C03
I took this course in 08/09 and it was taught by Dr. Dej and Dr. Campos. The course can be roughy segregated into three parts, two taught by Dr. Dej and one by Dr. Campos.

The first part of the course covers Mendelian genetics and basic patterns of inheritance. Much of it was similar...

Buuuut I might just drop the course anyhow, so....
Last time she taught it was 2006 or 2007, so anyone who had her graduated by now. And I can only find like one review about her teaching Bio 2C03. Maybe it's just me, but I like to wait and see if I like the prof myself, because a prof's lecturing style that might not work for someone else, might work for you.

As I said above, if you were able to learn the material on your own in first year courses then you'll be able to do so for this course as well. There's nothing ridiculously complicated. Some students have trouble with the genes sections when it comes to multiple genes (punnet square is good for 2 genes, but when you get to 3 or more you'll need to abandon this strategy) or the pedigrees, but you can easily get used to them by just doing practice questions until you get it.

I took this course over summer, I have a suggest on this course, the first midterm always much easier than the 2nd one, so don't hesitate review hard for the 1st midterm and try to get as higher as u can. Moreover, the 2nd mid covered majority of applicaion questions. But final examation is not cumulative, and fairly if you remember all the basic gene stuff.

This Class was pretty cool. I mean the profs were not the greatest but the material was fairly straight foward and actually conceptual rather than clump of rote memorization. It had surprising very few hardcore biochem concepts which were not that challenging in hindsight

Has anyone taken this course with Dr. Bedard or Dr. Gupta? Any comments on either of their teaching styles?

Is the textbook for this course useful/required or should I not bother getting one?

I found the textbook essential for the weekly tutorial quizzes and helpful in answering tutorial assignment questions.

I would defiantly get it. It was very useful for understanding concepts as well as the tutorials.

im confused with the prerequisite for this course.
In the outline it says you need Bio 1A03, 1M03 and Chem 1AA3
but in the undergraduate calendar, under course description it says:"BIOLOGY 1A03, 1M03 (or ISCI 1A24); and registration in an Honours program in the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Health Sciences, or the Arts & Science Program"

Which is right? does anybody know?

How is Gupta for the course? Because I've heard Dr Dej's exam was a killer, so I'm kind of worried about taking it with her?

^ I had Gupta and Dej. I agree that the exam was a killer but Gupta was way worse for me personally. All I can say is... good luck!

Make sure you do well on the midterm to keep your mark up for the exam.
