From what I know of my friends, most are less than $1500. If you got less than that too, I wouldn't sweat it that you got less than most other people.

i don't want to sound like a jackass or anything but you should be thankful you got any amount of free money. They evaluate the bursary based on need and it seems like osap is giving you plenty of money

I got a lot more than I expected. Definitely not complaining, but I find it weird just because I got a lot less OSAP this year compared to last, so I assumed they thought I was doing better off. Which I'm not by any means, but still.

What do you consider local? Like only within Hamilton? Because I always have my mail sent to my permanent address in Mississauga, and it always gets there.

"Home" is Peterborough, which is still in Ontario. I just hear "local" and think of local to a phone company lol. I've never heard "local" in reference to mail.

Grr.
I am SO jealous of you all.
D:
I don't get ANY money.
no OSAP, and certainly no bursaries, because you have to be eligible for stupid OSAP, which I don't think I am.
Any amount of free money = awesome.
Please don't complain that you got, like, $500 instead of $800.

Yea, it must be HORRIBLE having money handed to you.
Let's give it to someone who'd be grateful (ie: me)

I'm grateful for the money I got.
But what I don't understand is... why do they base this off of your parents' income? Because what they make is not necessarily proportional to what they will contribute. I don't understand...

While it is a flawed system, it's simply too easy for a student to say that his parents are unwilling to contribute to his/her tuition expenses just to squeeze a few extra dollars from the OSAP. It's definitely unfair for those whose parents don't help their children help pay for school, but from the government's perspective, it's just a "better safe than sorry"-kind of thing.

They will send a cheque to your address on file. But you should check to see if there is an F, which would mean they credited your student account. In that case, you would have to contact Student Accounts and Cashiers and request a cheque to close out the credit balance on your account.
