Courses full?

Classes Full? What do you do now?

NOTE: Your faculty will only open up a seat for you in a course if it is a required course to complete your degree and graduate. If you have other choices available to you that are available, you will need to take those instead as this is for special circumstances only!

This year the course registration procedure has changed and now all courses have limited enrollment. This means that the faculties have estimated how many students will apply to each course and capped the course enrolment numbers. If you're trying to get into a program on SOLAR and it says that it is full, you are asked to contact the Dean of the faculty the program is in and request that he/she opens more seats in the program you want. If enough people request to get into a class that is full, more seats may be added... so make sure to let your faculty know you want to get into a full course! You can also pursue Seat Authorization from your faculty. Contact information is below:

if you require a seat authorization from a course in the faculty of science, even though you're in soc sci, who do you contact? Soc sci of science?

I've already emailed the Dept. of Biology AND the professor of the course... who else do I contact?

Chad:

I emailed the associate dean of science and told them my situation:

I was given a seat authorization immediately. Now I just have to wait till 1130 when solar reopens and add the course. Thank you SO SO SO much for this article. It helped me so much.

PS -- everyone: do what this article says -- it works

Still cant get into first year Kin course
Hey guys,
I'm starting my first year this Fall and Ive been trying (pretty much) all summer to get into this one Kinesiology course that i was REALLY looking forward to taking at Mac. Every time i logged on to SOLAR, it said that the course was full. Since its not a required course for my program (its only an elective) I dont think that they would make an exception and acctually open up more spots, would they? please help :(

Keep checking. Slots tend to open shortly after classes start. You could try asking them, but I don't think they would open a slot for you. If worse comes to worse, you can always take the second year bio anatomy course which I hear is very similar.

I believe mitch is referring to Bio 2A03.

It is pretty similar, but has heavier emphasis on physiology, and a lot less memorization of body parts than does Kin 1Y03/1YY3. It is not an anatomy course, though; it's a physiology course.

Well you could always take Kin 1Y03 next year if you don't get in this year. They only have a limited amount of spots and it's a popular course. Bio 2A03 sounds more like Kin 2C06 if it focuses on physiology.

Hmm, I don't know. Someone who took the course needs to answer that. The kin second year physiology course focused only on humans.
