I don't think it is. Apparently I'm quite funny unintentionally as well (or at least much more so than when I'm telling lame jokes). Embrace it.

I can see how that would help. My experience with English this summer was along the lines of "Oh you wrote the word limit, but you really needed to expand more" (this was after our TA had of course lectured us on being concise )

I don't TRY to be funny... Like I said before, I'm usually incredibly sarcastic.

I got my first A this last semester and I was so confused because it was only 500 words but my TA said I was really concise. And I got an A- on my first ever essay in uni for the same reason, so I guess I need to be more like that.

Being an English major does not make it necessary to lack the ability to write in a concise manner, without the use flowery language, etc.

Real writers can express things in a concise form with all of the impact that someone such as yourself takes a mountain of verbiage and dedication to a thesaurus to.

Not everything is prose; common misconception with most students these days, most of whom seem to think that the more you say the better you are. It is a bad thing if you are bad at it.

I don't use thesauruses. They only cause you to choose a word becasue of its length that actually alters the effect of what you were trying to say. I'm actually a pretty decent English student, my first essay ever (which happened to be in an English class) was graded with an A- and I've stayed around that mark ever since. I'm not trying to write well on MI, I don't take time to read through my posts and edit them for better choice of words or unneeded sentences.
