currently, gemstones consists of a midterm, an exam, and 6 online quizzes. its reasonably easy but it is a lot of information. if you're used to the way mac science classes are formatted, it wont be too bad for you. also, gemstones can no longer be taken by 1st years because they have made it have a prerequisite.

I know this has been posted about a thousand times now, but gemstones is no longer a bird course. The prof got pissed that people were only taking it because of that and now it's harder.

If you're good in math, I heard 1B03 isn't that bad. Almost everyone I've talked to who has taken that course got an 11 or 12.

Check the course reviews for more info

lorend says thanks to nerual for this post.

I've taken both of them and they wouldn't be called easy electives. 1a03 is the easier of the two and yeah there are video lectures, and a weekly tutorial, buut the content is a bit difficult. There are lecture online, and you watch 2 of them every week (they are about 30-40 minutes a piece) but you pause them and take quite a few notes so they do take quite a bit of time.

1AA3 in addition to these online lectures has a weekly 1 hour live lecture.

1A03 is about levels of analysis, learning, cognition, conditioning , language, and some social psychology and personality

1AA3 is a lot more scientific and is about development, evolution, neuroscience, and senses and perception.

There are quizes every other week, a midterm and a final. And in 1AA3 you have a group essay that you complete for the entire semester

I took Geog 1HA3 as my elective over the summer and I have to say its a very interesting and easy course as long as you are good at writing. The prof(Dr. Legare) was really good too and I definitely recommend this course for an elective!

Hey,
Don't take psych 1XX3, TAKE psychobio instead - you'll learn a lot and it'll be a relatively easy course (class average is high 80's).
Psych 1XX3 IS AN antirequsite to Psychbio 1G03.

It doesn't matter, other than the first 4 chapters, they cover two completely different material.
