Engineering Level Cut-offs*
I spoke with Sally Williams today, and found out the cut-offs for second year Engineering.
So here goes:
Chemical Engineering:4
Materials Engineering:4
Computer Engineering:4
Electrical Engineering(SURPRISIN GLY):4
Electrical and Biomedical:6.2
Management Programs(Highest):6.5
Mechanical Engineering:6.4
Civil(Structural):6.3
Mechatronics:5.0
Software(All programs):4.0
Engineering Physics:4.0
This year, it wasn't that hard to get into most programs in my opinion.
*Please don't go completely by this. As far as I know and found out, this is it.

Whoa, calm down there, first-years. There's no need to set the bar so freakin' high.

Also was Civ (Enviro) the same as Structural?

Wow... that's really low. I thought most programs in anything required a 7.0 or something.

I would say that more for specializations in science.

I'm starting to think that's maybe without competition factored in. Like maybe for civil (structural) you need a 6.4 to be considered, but with competition, it will be pushed up around a 9 or something.

Actually even in our year, things like BioChem which require 5.5-6+, people got in with as low as 4.5

Wow, that's pretty surprising. I thought it would be higher than that, maybe a 5 or 6 for most programs

But even Honours Life Sci, ie the 'general stream' has a minimum of a 6..

Because of our course load, difficulty, and # of units, the requirements are a 4.0 for most programs.

I thought the total number of students had to be low for this to happen. Or I thought that the students were more evenly distributed in all the programs. But whatever it was, I was surprised by Electrical, Mechanical and Civil cut-offs.

As far as I know, Sally said that anyone with the above mentioned average was admitted into the program

I didnt see society, but that usually has no cutoff (4)
In the past couple years (before this one) there was an issue with an overpopulated first year, due to more people accepting mcmaster than they thought would, so that could be a reason for the relatively low cutoffs....
...but all the ones that should be high are (biomed/civil/mechanical)

I've come to learn that 2nd year engineering cut offs are not that high. I know people who got into mech with around the listed average in this post.
