Would it be possible to talk to departments to get special persmission for a course that you absolutely want to take but is full?

I think it depends upon how necessary the course is. If the only reason you need to take it is because you really want to, you probably won't get in.

Well, the problem is that when I picked my courses it had shown no conflicts. I have just recently realized that one of my electives conflicts with one of my required courses. I was not notified at all of this conflict, so i dropped that elective and now trying to find a new one that is open that will fit into my schedule is impossible :(
