Apparently with the city of toronto on strike, inspections aren't happening.
So the pass/conditional pass/fail things are kind of misleading : P

About the glove being not as sanitary as frequent hand-washing, does anyone go to Subway a lot? They always take off their gloves when handling money, and then they put on new gloves afterwards. So that's a bit better.

That's really good since they are using new gloves each time.

That's also true. But that just means that there is no win-win situation. Even if they wash their hands instead of using gloves, first of all it's really bad for the person that has to wash their hands constantly, second it uses a lot of water and third it uses a lot of soap which goes in the water.
Edit: They could be using plastic gloves instead. Are those recyclable?

They use these like clear gloves, I can't say if it's plastic or not though.

Apparently you can't recycle most plastic. It has to be about as thick as a Gatorade bottle to be considered recyclable; at least; that's what one of my teachers in highschool said :s

Yeah! I noticed that too.. I've only seen it once when that didn't happen, that could've been due to the long line.. But if we're speaking in terms of sanitary reasons.. My friend who worked there said that the vegetables aren't even washed.. just "sprayed" by water.. So that should be another concern..

But like you guys mentionned, there's no "best" way out.. so I guess it's just more about which one is less costly for the restaurant- of course..

You all worry too much.
I don't prepare my meals with gloves and I'm fine. As long as they're handwashing, then it's perfectly okay. Plus, it's a huge waste of plastic. For labwork I always feel so bad that I have to wear a new pair of gloves for RT PCR. :| I end up reusing them later.
We have an immune system for a reason. The more you put yourself into a bubble, the weaker your immune system will be as it hasn't had as much "practice". I'm totally rubbing my future kids in dirt.

And even if they don't wash that well, it's not too bad. I've never died or gotten sick from it and I'm sure I've put worse in my mouth, and my mouth on worse.
