You should probably stay away from flashing another Rom unless you know what you're doing. Custom rom usually have a few useful tweaks but it usually comes at the cost of stability and reliability and unless you know/are willing to learn how to handle issues when they crop up (boot to recovery manually, wipe cache, flash a nandroid backup, etc) you probably shouldn't get anywhere near custom roms.

Oh deffinitely! I wasnt even considering it! I was just curious what special things faithcry's tablet can do now versus mine. Though Im very pleased with mine I dont need to change anything about it.
But thanks for the warning! Im good with technology, but not good with any of the coding/background stuff. I will be staying away for sure!

Not all ROMs require you to do 'coding/background stuff'.

Eh...
As long as you get a CM rom, your fine. Infact, Samsung hired CM for their software too

I must agree with this statement. Though, I'm not sure if CM added the Nexus 7 to their supported devices list yet if they support tablets (do they?).

CM has been on the n7 for a while now.
flashing a rom doesn't require any coding at all. so if you're ever interested you won't need to worry about it. making a rom on the other hand.. thats the fun stuff ;P

I think it's more customization than anything..right? You take the stock Android OS, and modify it with various thing that other people have made...add a little bit here, a little bit there and you have your own custom ROM. Obviously it is a lot of work, which is why not everyone takes this task upon them (or maybe because they don't have the time to spare ) but yeah.

its all about customization. but i'm sure you know, you have to be able to interpret the code first before you fiddle with source. building from AOSP is different compared to using the CM tree since you can literally just copy their code and take the cherry picks you want, but if you're building from AOSP you have to understand and rewrite which can sometimes be a slight pain..

I managed to get my phone stuck in a boot loop in a stable version CM7 on my Galaxy S2 when I first got it (Changed a few settings related to automatic backlight adjustment) and the only way to get out of the loop was to boot into recovery and do a factory reset.
CM is easily the most stable and well supported rom and there are still pitfalls there. I wouldn't put anyone on a custom rom unless they knew how to get into and use the recovery menu (Unless the stock Rom is as terrible as my Dad's HTC Amaze was... WTF was HTC thinking!?!).
