Speaking of coffee...has anyone else ever had a driver decide that just because they're driving a route either at night or on the weekend and it's "slow", it means they can stop for 15 minutes to get something from the Tim Hortons near Westdale Library? This has happened to me twice now; one time resulted in me missing my connection bus and having to wait an extra 30 minutes and another time resulted in my being late for work despite having left right on time. Personally I think bus drivers shouldn't be able to just make random detours just because they deem that hour to be slow or whatever. It screws people over more than anything.

I've only ever had them stop to take piss breaks; did this happen on a McMaster-bound bus?

I took a bus to Dundas and the bus driver stopped the bus at one of the stops, gets off, and comes back 5 min later with a coffee and hamburger from McDonalds!! This happened 2 weeks in a row.

They're allowed breaks and whatnot -- most drivers have a specifc place in the city where they idle for reading/smoking/eating/etc; you don't want a hungry or angrier-than-usual driver, do you? Hah!

I think the HSR should make it so that drivers take their breaks at the end of their routes. Taking a break in the middle of the route doesn't make the HSR seem like a good service.

Yup...once was a weeknight and the other time was a Saturday afternoon.
@KRan: LOL
At least they can't enforce the technical "no food or drink allowed" rule because that would make them huge hypocrites xD
