I regret buying my macbook. I have the older generation ones, I have a black one.
Apparently that generation of MacBooks had a problem with I/O ports. A year in, my sound stopped working, as in, I had to plug in headphones. I took it in for warranty, and they said that it would cost 669.99 to repair, plus taxes, etc, as they have to replace the motherboard.

Needless to say I didn't do it. I build computers. I'm an enthusiast. No motherboard is worth 700$. Especially the one in this laptop.

Also, Bluetooth stopped working, and when I turn it on, my laptop freezes.
WiFi seems to disconnect often. I have to turn off Airport and turn it back on so it can connect again.

I know how to take care of the laptop, mind you. I don't install anything on it. Since I bought it, I've only installed Office, and took notes with it. It never leaves my backpack outside of school / studying.

Just saying, they get the same issues "PCs" get.
They don't "just work".

Still though, I like the battery life.

You are quite right, just go ask the psych students! They will tell you it's true!! But I am defending my product with observations and factual data, not mindless emotional attachment. If I didn't want my laptop I would sell it online to someone who does want it.

Mac lovers = hump the overpriced and simplistic apple (the brand is heading in a more 'pc' direction as years go on..) and have too much monies to throw away

PC lovers = are brand loyal to a specific set of characteristics that are unique to their particular pc laptop manufacturer.. most just don't like apple out of spite to the mac lovers

When you think about it, there are really just Apple cultists and regular folk.

Macs are usually considered complete jokes to tech-savvy people, though they're easy entry systems for those who don't need the functionality a pc provides or somehow manage to get a virus in a world where noscript exists.

For eng you'll definitely want a pc since you'll be using programs that aren't supported by osx. Running bootcamp/partitioning to add windows would be counter-intuitive since the hardware you get with a mac purchase is horrendously overpriced and in most cases inferior.

Pricing two gigs of DDR3 ram at $100, a 500gb hd at $100, not to mention the hilarious pricing on software installations like up to 200 dollars for an installation of microsoft office is overpriced.

Usually, tech-savvy people can do their own hardware upgrades and software installations anyway...
