In the past I studied in Thode, but now it's slowly turning into a lounge much like Mills.

If people are looking for internet access or places to study try:
Basement of KTH=computer labs!
Second floor of BSB=more computer labs!
JHE has a computer lab too...some where.

The hours aren't the best, but it's something! I've been studying in the UTS labs all over campus this semster. They are nearly silent and during exams they are deserted.

If you have a lab top, try any abandoned classrooms.

Oh, you know what would be useful? If there was some sort of empty classroom index, or someway you could look up a specific room and see what classes and times are there. That would solve almost everything, especially for people with laptops.

LC = learning commons = big room in 2nd floor of Mills

that's open 24/7

the rest of the library is closed.

What's the first floor social area called then?

/soconfused.

I don't understand why only THAT area would be open. There's NO WHERE to sit. D:

Well, during exam time, there shouldn't be any classes. The only rooms being used for "classes" are usually in the Health Sciences building or MDCL for graduate & med students.

The only thing with creating a directory like this is that you're pretty much gathering more attention for the study areas that you could be potentially using for yourself. More likely than not, more students will flock to these areas, which defeats your original purpose of finding a quiet study space.

Just do what I do: scout for empty rooms across campus (BSB, ABB, MDCL...). It can be quite an adventure sometimes, especially when you find new things that you never knew could exist, or stray couples partaking in PDA....

If Bill Gates sponsored this university, and I was the president, I would build an underground building with high tech sound proof glass that you can have the option of switching between opaque and translucent, all of them are big cubicles measuring 5m by 5m and it would include one of those second floor student center chairs. The drinks are free (no pop at all, only juice) and we'd have a Japanese maid for each cubicle, they'd also be masters of origami so they can teach you some origami when your bored instead of you going on fb. I'd build one for every mcmaster student and it would be included in the tuition.

-sigh-
Only if I was bill gates..and president of this university.

I love you Jimmy, but I hope you're never president of this university. Tuition is high enough as it is.

And some of us like pop. XD

And I'd prefer a german. ;D

Cultural behaviours are strongly tied to one's ethnicity! Usually when people think of douchebags they think of

I just realized how tired I was when I saw this thread, fully knowing it was "Mills", but reading it as "Milfs".

Back to studying...
