Pull a Tevez and go to Manchester City?
- Them Abu Dhabi dudes have the money that Rooney wants, that's for sure
- A big transfer signing will alleviate the debt problems at United
- Will Sir Alex stand for that? I doubt it.
- Extreme case scenario: crazy Utd fan kills the Glazers and the whole organization will be out of control.

Chelsea?
- Abramovich is rich, but not that rich
- Will Sir Alex stand for that? I doubt it.
- Nicolas Anelka = "Le Sulk"
- He'll get mentoring from John Terry on how to shack up with your fellow England teammate's SO.
- London is a fancier city than Manchester

Arsenal?
- The dudes who run Arsenal (the board + Arsene) won't splash that money out for him, since they're really big on running the team financially sound
- Will Sir Alex stand for that? I doubt it.
- IMO, will make a good pairing with Chamakh. Then they can get rid of that dude who's made out of glass (RVP) and that dude with a Kanye-sized ego (Nicklas Bendtner)
- London is fancier than Manchester

Do the unthinkable and go to Liverpool?
- The Red Sox bought them out of debt, and they'll probably be looking at buying cheap.
- Bringing Rooney in will make Torres expendable, and rightly so, because Torres isn't doing so well.
- Will Sir Alex stand for that? ABSOLUTELY NOT. HE HATES LIVERPOOL MORE THAN ANYTHING.
- Rooney is a boyhood Everton fan. Hopefully he'll be smart enough not to join the red (or dark) side.

Wait until he's free of his contract in 18 months and come back to Everton?
- If they board plus Sir Alex decide on letting him go, it'll be for a fee, and Everton won't come close to having the money for that.

Blackpool?
- It's a seaside town....

Go outside England?
- Perhaps. But an entirely new culture, language. The steering wheel is on the left side. The roads are completely opposite to England's. No more steak and kidney pies...

As of now, it just seems really unlikely he'll go anywhere. I won't be surprised if he has a change of heart and stays, because that's where he should be.

Man City...isnt that bad anymore. But they are loaded with wads of cash, that def attracts players. If he went to Liverpool I'd just laugh. Blackpool is awesome Its cool at night. Actually now that I think of it, theres nothing really there besides the tower and the small amusement park. Rooney would never leave England, idk why but thats just what I think.

I think the best option would be for Rooney to perform so badly, that no one wants him and SAF sells him dirt cheap to Bolton. Then, Bolton makes him pro again, and place at the top of the table. <- that is the ideal situation.

Just for the record, I'm pretty sure he explicitly said in an interview he doesn't want to stay in England. I assume it's because of the recent scandal and all the hate he got after the world cup.

So I would say the most likely place is Real Madrid with a Benzema plus cash deal? Mourinho is a known fan while Fergie is a fan of Benzema. Another option would be Inter they have the financial pull and are sponsored by Nike (Nike & Adidas have been known to have an influence on transfers.)

Barca is out of the question because of their announced debt just a few days ago, Milan just spent big on Robinho and Juve seem to have their heart set on Dzeko.

On a bright side I'd rather Roons leave now while the club is in a rebuilding stage than later.

Barca would be out of the question anyway unless they intended to turn into a Madrid with their spending habits :\ I mean, with their recent signings and their chase after fabregas, it'll just turn into another star lineup on the bench. If Rooney can't keep up his form at United, where he gets the spotlight and starts every game, how would he expect to do at some non-EPL club with other star signings? I don't see Madrid as an option, for that reason, either.

Also it would break my heart to see the Ronnie-Roo tag-team in use somewhere else.

yeah same, specially because with Mourinho, Ozil, Kaka behind them, they would rip Europe to shreds, the way they did in 07/08 :(, except this time not as thrilling, amazingly talented youngsters....but as heartless, greedy mercenaries

I have always hated Madrid with a passion, but the utter genius of Mourinho and the joy of watching Ronaldo makes me want to watch them every time they play.

Speaking of which we should start a Champions League/Europa League thread.

I am excited to see Man United take Bursapor apart!

It has happened many many many manyyy times. But I think Perez isn't stupid enough to fire Mourinho even he knows what Mourinho means to the world of soccer. They brought him in to win especially after how bitter it was seeing Barca get the sextuple, I don't think they were expecting any "champagne football".

I really have to question Ozil's loyalties, considering that he was intially transferring to either madrid or barcelona, and soon after madrid bought him, he put on his personal website that he has a fondness for barca :\

Yeah I agree with you on that one. But given the volatile nature of being the benchboss at Real, I wouldn't be surprised if it does happen. And when it does, it'll make the organization look terrible, not Jose. So he's got nothing to lose for being there.
