Rant
I am SOOO frustrated with my prof!!
had this person twice now, econ in 1st year, and now econ again in summer school.
What ****** me off is that going to this prof's class DOES NOTHING to help me get better grades. The prof just reads the lesson off of the slides, does not add anything new into the lesson.
AND THE SLIDES!!
****!! people say this prof's slides are the best is econ! WTF!! THEY ARE SOO WRONG!!
The examples provided in the slide get cut off halfway by new knowledge, and after like 20 pages of new **** it goes back to where it was cut off with out providing the question again...WHO THE **** still remembers the QUESTION!! **** U!!
THE SLIDSE ARE ****ing narrowly scooped as ****, it just dive deep into **** creek with out telling you da **** you are learning....sersly **** this class...im just gonna memorize everything and get a 12 and dont learn ****.

you should have been more discrete lol. The introduction course are taught by either O'Shaugnessy or Holmes. O'Shaugnessy isn't teaching any summer courses this session so one can fairly easily deduce that it's holmes. Anywho that's her teaching style, im going to assume that this is 2x03. Memorizing isn't going to get you a 12. She has a TA make the tests and he/she will test your understanding and not memorization.

I don't see how being set theory and combinatorics among other things would have helped his situation.

Seriously, different profs have different methods. You're in uni and should be independent and know how to study. I know some profs at uoft who just read lecture notes with no ppts or anything, and yeah people do complain but they gotta get over it
So, get over it. ppts are helpful no doubt, but by no means a requirement

bottom line if you don't get a 10 or higher in either econ you are doing university wrong....
( you should get 12's really)
If you don't like the slides, tough. Some profs notes/slides/blackboard writing will be terrible. Take control and learn the material on your own. It is your responsibility to learn the material effectively...NOT THE PROF.

Please stop the hate posting on professors. Each professor has a different teaching style.
@OP The thing is everyone else is in your boat. Have trouble studying? Find friends who know how. Go to TA. Go to office hours. Find online sources for relevant information

Normally I'd agree with this, however there are some scenarios in which it is the prof's fault. For example, the prof needs to pause in class to wikipedia-search the answer to a question, tries to make up a midterm with his own questions answered wrong (despite that they were at the level of a grade 11 student), and then used the exam from the year before that he was not capable of passing if he wrote it himself (as evidenced by his attempts to answer questions when we had the opportunity to view our exams) and that he never covered or attempted to cover (or mentioned on the course outline that we should learn), then yeah, the prof has something to do with everyone doing badly.
This definitely doesn't seem like one of those cases...but the thread is titled "rant"...and that did happen to me for one of my classes
