I think it would be best to send in a passport photo. You're allowed to smile! I had my picture taken by the Registrar's Office at Mac and she told me to smile! Mind you don't take silly face pictures but you can look like a happy person in your picture!

Ps. I got mine done at Costco, they were cheap there. But now that we're not members there anymore, Walmart is the best alternative. REALLY CHEAP.
Also.. ps. highschool grad photo. Go to WALMART! Its much cheaper than the company that comes to your school.

Shoppers Drug Mart is actually cheapest when it comes to passport pics ($9.99), but I'd imagine almost ANY place would be cheaper than the school for grad pictures lol
Does it matter what colour the background of the photo is, or does it HAVE to be white?

As soon as possible.
You will need it for the last week of August for Welcome Week, and we have no idea how long they take to process. Also, they are mailed to you...so you need to give them time to mail them as well.
Call the Office of the Registrar on Monday during their business hours and ask.

They do scan the images as well as your signature. These are used to create your student ID card. And you are correct, it doesn't have to be an actual passport photo (i.e. no smiling), but simply one that fits the dimensions of the box.

The recommended deadline is July 11, 2008. This gives the Registrar's Office enough time to scan them, create the actual card and then they are mailed out after you have completed your online registration and payment agreement. You need to do that part first so that the validation stickers can be sent with your student ID card. You keep this card for your entire time at McMaster and just add new validation stickers for each year you register.

I'd be interested to know this as well (if we can use a nickname that is). But i think the answer is likely to be no. Hopefully someone can help us out

hey katie. haha. you have to put your official name. My name is Eva, but all my application is my chinese name. This is improtant because of stuff like osap applications, and other official documents that would need your real name.

Hey I was just wondering if I can get my picture taken and hand in my form when I'm there for the academic counseling (July 3rd). I'm having a heck of a time getting a picture to fit the box and don't really want to pay $10 if I don't have to. Thank!

You can go to the Registrar's Office (Gilmour Hall Room 108) to have your picture taken for your photo ID at any time.
Hope this helps.
