I took it in second year and there was very little work involved. If you're looking to get into a coop program or to land an independent study/thesis project later or to apply for a job, it's very useful. You only have to attend 1 hour of class a week, and there's a couple weeks where there was no class, I believe. Plus, the instructor meets with you in person to help you personally revise your resume and to give you tips on how to improve it. The instructor that I had, Kimberley John, was really knowledgeable and I found her far more helpful than some of the other student-volunteer-provided resume checking services on campus. Overall, I'd say it was definetly worth the extra effort because there was hardly any work to do except a couple small assignments. ("write one paragraph about what your goals are and how you want to achieve them"etc.)
