The cards come with the registration stuff, can't remember when exactly. But if you go to Program and Course Summary on MUGSI, you'll see if the stuff has been mailed out. The bus discount is like 248$ for May-August, hardly worth it considering that there are 2 months of summer left and a monthly pass is 87$ (or something like that).

Since you're not technically a McMaster student until September, I'm not sure the student discount will work...and, they're not obligated to provide you with a student card until you begin your studies anyways.

Do students get a new student card every year or we just use the old one?

That's right. Although if your card gets damaged (cracked, laminate and ink comes off, doesn't swipe anymore) then you can get it replaced free of charge (but the picture will be the same). I'm pretty sure if you lose your card and have to pay the picture still stays the same.

I lost my card and the lady asked me whether I wanted a new picture or wanted to use the old one.
I guess it just depends who you're dealing with/how busy they are.
