Then you find out when you walk into class the first day.

as soon as possible. you should definately have it done before welcome week starts, if not several days before.
technically the last day is the drop and add day in september, but you DO NOT want to wait that long.

I found two hours to be okay. It gives you enough time to eat, and switch your books, or get a bit of reading/an assignment done.

Why are 1 hour breaks bad? You have plenty of time to grab a snack/lunch/breakfast/brunch. Or you could finish up some quick reading for your next class or whatever. Maybe not enough time for both but def enough for one of them.

Kevin, in university there is no 'quick' reading. Thus far I have never been assigned less than 30 pages at a time for each class. I read pretty quickly, but for me to read that amount in 40 minutes is pushing it. And it's hard to retain what you read previously if you have to stop halfway through.
As for getting food, you're absolutely right. But if you have class-break from 8:30 to let's say 4:30 you're not going to want to eat every other hour.
clueless, you're supposed to be sorting out everything on your own; that's why they gave us the option to create our own timetables this year. If your core classes are conflicting, then I suggest talking to someone in your faculty office, as that obviously is a big problem. However, because your electives have nothing to do with your degree, you're most likely going to have to drop what you have and pick something completely different.

Couple questions. I tried search finction but the threads that popped up had general titles and tons of pages =x. Sorry if it's been asked.
1. If you chose your lab for say... chem to be on monday and it was your first class, does that matter? Arn't labs supposed to be built on or correspond to your core classes? So if you havn't had any core classes yet and your first day/class is a lab... would that work out fine?
2. Tutorials. What exactly HAPPENS there. I know you get help (i think from a TA)... but is that the whole point of the class? (which by the way would be amazingly helpful) Do you actually get taught a lesson or are you assigned something? or do you just walk in and people start asking questions/getting answers as a class. Can you skip a tutorial if you dont really have any questions that day?
3. HOw bad does friday look for my timetable below? I want to change math tutorial but the only option I would have is on monday (which I want)... it's been full forever, though. Do you think it's TOO much? I really wanna change that damn math tutorial lol. At least the chem lab is only EOW so.... i don't know.

hey eliwilliam i have math and chem with you!
yes your fridays do look a bit full. try to at least get out of the psych class. there are lots of sections. and for the labs, i heard we don't have to go to the labs untill we've had the core class.
good luck
see you in a few weeks =)
