They did, however, play pretty damn well in the last 20ish minutes. They dominated possession and kept it in Paraguay's end of the field, with some of the defenders making ridiculous saves (did you see that dude with the diving header!?).

Both teams will make it through.

North Korea (aka Best Korea) will be stomped by Brazil tomorrow.

i have accepted that with domenech in charge, france will most likely not win. if not france, i would want netherlands (VAN PERSIE!!!!!!!) to win it. i think they have the firepower to get to the final and just enough to see them win the cup.

The Biggest issue with Italy is a complete lack of Attacking players who have that special bit of flair or game changing ability. That's what you get for leaving Mario Balotelli & Antonio Cassano home, despite their behavioural threat they CAN change a game and provide that extra boost that Italy lacks. Its all to one dimensional right now with Gilardino/Pazzini/Iaquinta upfront, big lumbering forwards with medium pace and low skill.

deutschland über alles!!

was away on the weekend so missed tons of action. but luckily cbc has video on demand.

italy's just awkwardly caught between two generations right now. totti and del piero have already retired internationally, and gattuso's going after this tourney. cannavaro's gotta be thinking of calling it quits, and who knows how much longer pirlo and gilardino will play... and they're fielding really really old players so far.

though it's rather inconvenient that all the games live are during the 9-5 workday :(

I don't know about you guys but the games after that Germany vs. Australia have been lackluster. I was expecting today's CIV vs. Portugal to be a great watch but found myself disappointed yet again.

Damn good game so far. I'm surprised Brazil hasn't scored yet, considering they've held onto the ball for a good period of time.

It wasn't a piece of cake for Brazil. Right now they look a fraction of what they used to be.

Good game from Kim Jong's boys.

they dropped ronaldinho! what can one expect? I agree he is aging but this was his last chance for the world cup! and it wouldn't hurt to try out a player like him in atleast the group stage!!!

Brazil are very, very fortunate to come away with that victory.

After that performance I wouldn't be surprised if they didnt win the world cup.

Spain play tomorrow!!!!!

i thought it was more n.korea's dicipline that kept it close than brazil lacking. you could see that no matter what clever runs or passes were made, the n.korea team was always in position throughout the ranks. not the most attractive football from them, but effective against brazil. their goalie got caught cheating and they had to give up some defencive order in order to attack and thats when you started seeing more and more holes opening up. great goals by both teams in the end.

and i didnt think that the ivory coast vs portugal game was boring at all, dissapointing with the ending, but reminded me of no country for old men. good movement and plays throughout the game made it enjoyable to watch, but a goalless draw was dissapointing. ivory coast looked strongest

and i dont know why you guys hate the horns so much. i think theyre awesoeme
