If I were you, I'd get something called a USB Network Adapter. I wanted to get my desktop running wirelessly a little while back and could not decide between inserting it into the computer or having something removable. I'd recommend the latter.
The reason for this is you may switch laptops midway between university or borrow somebody else's if your's needs a repair, and the convenience offered by the portability of a USB adapter is quite useful during these times.
Edit: I hear there's free Wi-Fi all over the McMaster campus

I've heard of that. and That's what I was initially planning to get.. But then I heard that some places on campus don't have Wi-Fi.. So I was thinking that it's better to check before getting it just in case..

A, B, G, and N are all intercompatible; the only difference is the speed. Wireless N will only give you the full N capability if the router used, and ALL other computers on the network, are using N as well. I'd get G, unless the computer has N built in already. N is newer, so it costs more, and has greater speed potential, but only if everyone else around is using it too. If not, it drops to G speed anyway.

'A' I don't think is incompatible with the rest since it runs on the 5 GHz spectrum. It's very uncommon though. Nobody has B anymore, unless their computer really sucks.
'N' as far as I know, isn't actually complete. It's really "draft N". I'm assuming the full specification will be released sometime between StarCraft 2 and Duke Nukem Forever.

The integrated Ethernet port is also only 100 Base-T, meaning it won't be as fast the newer Gigabit standard. This only really matters if you're going to be connecting through a wire to high bandwidth applications like DC++.
I don't know if the schools switches are even gigabit though, so that might not matter.
Overall, it's a decent computer if you aren't using it for games :p

I haven't really been keeping up with specifications lately (haven't looked much since last year), so I don't really know how much everything has dropped in price :p

You can't tell what's better by the name. You need the specs.
