Which of those two laptops is better? One has an Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo and the other Intel Core 2 Duo.

They're virtually the same computer. You pretty much just have to pick which colour you like better.

By the way, I compared both of them using the compare feature (sadly it doesn't link properly). I don't know much about computer so I can't really help but the only 2 differences are:

Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo: 800MHz front side bus
Intel Core 2 Due: 800MHz (Not front side bus)

So yeah.... if anyone knows about that then please elaborate for the tiger.

Yeah, but why do they have different processor names?

By the way, I just did a quick google search:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_th...Centr ino_Duo

Basically one is older than the other.

I think they're both the same processor pretty much. The person who entered the names into the catalog probably just entered the name differently one of the times.

I checked the processor module number. Both have the same module number (T6500). So I guess it makes no difference here and like said Taunton, they're the same laptop.

best software for laptop
For everyone buying a new laptop, you'll have to buy software too, and i came across a link that will get students the cheapest price on Microsoft Office 2007. All you need is your student email and you can save a bunch of money on legit software. Check it out at http://www.theultimatesteal. ca/mcmaster

Centrino is more "portable-friendly". It's designed specifically for mobile computers (integrated wi-fi/CPU). It's essentially the same thing as the other, just optimized for laptops.

I seriously don't know why people pay hundreds of dollars for software that's readily available on the internet for free.

Dealing with pirated Microsoft software is a pain in the ass, espeically since they started to crack down on it. You can't access updates or add-ins when you're using a pirated copy of the software (ie a Pirated software key).

Open Office blows, and I would never use it. Microsoft Office is like a million times better, and is much more powerful, especially when you know how to use it.

Oh, and also, you can get Office Ultimate 2007 for just about $70 (this deal has been going on for a couple of years now) while you're a student. Office Ultimate retails for something like $600. Definitely worth it.

First thing I did with mine after installing was update, and I had no problems. I'm running the Mac version of Office 2008. Maybe the Mac version is different that way.
