I don't think it is; his Macbook just crashed because I closed the Mac and moved it suddenly. You can't do that with 2006 white Macbooks. That causes scratches on the HDD. Note, the new MBP has a sudden motion sensor built in to prevent this.

I don't find my Gateway bad at all... I had it since first year and now I'm entering my fifth year. I do however find it heavy... and it's battery life is ~ 1 hour... So now that mainly serves as my home computer, while my MBA is my travel one.

For me light and thin are important b/c of the limited space in my backpack! Battery life is somewhat important, though I do not carry and use my computer for every class.

It was a known issue with early models of Macbooks. Current models don't have the problem, nor do Macbook Pros.

I got the Macbook when it first came out.

Apple is really good with replacing things quite quickly. Although there's a Macbook service on Campus, titles is really slow and doesn't even call you when your laptop is fixed (even though they said they would ;__. I'd just go to the Apple store closest to you.

Or if its the crashing HD, you can just call and have a new drive sent to you, and install it yourself in a couple days

Toshiba

Seriously though, of the 2, I'd go with Dell.

I keep saying that too, then somehow wind up at the local computer shop every time I leave the house. Its just a matter of time before I cave in and buy it.

I really...really hate that.

My computer makes Sample Noise 1 and 2.
And the keyboard moves UP when the CD is inserted.

Really annoying feature with the Pro's.
So if you for some reason don't want your roomate knowing you've inserted a CD ...take it outside.
