Same here, I've had no problems with MS office for Mac in terms of updating.

I assume you mean you're running a pirated version?
It's certainly possible that Microsoft hasn't identified the key used for that version... that's assuming they use the same types of anti-piracy strategies that they use for their OS's and other software.
Once they identify the key used on your computer as "pirated", then they lock down your software and refuse to allow you access to important updates. If you're running an identified pirated OS, they will even spam your screen with messages such as "you may be running an illegal version of Windows. Click here [link] to fix this problem".
I haven't run pirated Microsoft Software for a while though, so it certainly may be possible that they are currently using newer, or different strategies.

One of the many benefits of having a mac is that they dont ever spam your screen with anything. Also im using MS Office 2008 pirated on my MBP and ive never had any problems updating.

Microsoft doesn't spam your screen with anything either, unless they've caught you using pirated software... I think it's justifiable if you've stolen their product.

I've never had any problems using pirated versions of office 2007 on any version of windows, lol. I've installed language packs and stuff over it fine too. Come to think of it, I've never had any problems installing any pirated versions of office where they'll not let me update. Perhaps look for the "blue edition", lol.
Office for mac, however I have encountered problems with. If two computers on a LAN are using the same key, one will always complain about the other person and not start.

That's interesting.
The problems I've seen were with Office 2003... the pirated version wouldn't update, and with a pirated version of XP... that was the one where they spammed your screen, and also removed your desktop background so the only thing you could have is a black desktop.

The fix for that problem is to turn on the firewall in OSX and tell it to block all MS Office apps. You should be able to run office with the same serial on as many macs as you like after that.

Ya, but who wants the firewall on? lol
I've never understood the point when 90% of people out there have some sort or router already acting as a firewall to the outside world. I've found that all they tend to do is interfere with LAN games :p.

True, but I bootcamp XP to game so the firewall interfering with gaming isnt a problem.

I had that XP thing on my old PC, where I got the "This version of windows in not genuine" or something every startup. It wasn't easy to fix, but it was fixable.

I never understood that... even when I put the game as an exception in the firewall it still interferes...
