The Dell XPS laptop I got (I posted a link in this thread) can be upgraded to a 12-cell, but the battery sticks out from the bottom, so I didn't want that.

I have an LG E300. I've never heard of anyone using an LG before. I've had mine for a year and it still gives me no trouble. I ran like four clients at once of a game I used to play when I first got it 'cause I was amazed at how there was absolutely no lag. Most of you are talking about Dells... Has anyone used LG before? Should I be wary of anything...? (Also, the battery life is pretty crappy. It's like 2 hours max at the lowest performance. But it's really light and the guy at Future Shop was like "Oh, watch me open like a billion things at once and not have it freeze.")

Laptop Protection:
I was wondering how one would go about protecting a Pro?
If I give into my paranoia I would find myself purchasing:
A hard shell
A keyboard cover
A soft carry case
A cooling pad
That's about 120 in accessories which I really would like to avoid.
What, out of that list, would you consider essentials?

I only bought the soft carry case. I don't think any of the other things are essential if you treat your macbook carefully.

I think a cooling pad is important but that plus a soft or hard case would be fine, I don't think you need both. As for the keyboard cover as long as you aren't using it while your hands are dirty I don't see why that would be necessary.

I have the top of the line Macbook Pro from 2007. So basically it's outdated

Just wash your hands before using the computer.
Or more specifically, don't go from eating food with your hands to using the computer right after without washing first.

I find that they keyboard cover could also get annoying.. And if you're careful, I don't think it's worth it

I've tried to like open office, but it feels like it's just not quite there yet.
