Oh, and um...

Apple does not make laptops.
It makes notebooks.
If you put your notebook on your lap, you could suffer a chemical burn.

What I do is take two equal sized Business textbooks and I spread them apart so I can place my MBP on the spines of each book with plenty of air underneath it for it to cool.

I also put a cloth on each book because I don't want the rubber pads to get damaged (but I'm just a bit AR that way) but I make sure only the rubber pads sit on the books, so that the MBP isn't on cloth.

..

That being said, I should take it off my bed.

Yes, Externals are pretty cheap.

It's also important to take care of computer by cleaning it regularly using programs such as CCleaner and then defragmenting it using something other than what windows uses. I use JKdefrag. It's important to clean your computer before you defragment it.

No problem, it's how I keep my laptop running fast and smooth. Also, not randomly downloading programs helps ^-^

That's where I saw it Jeremy (the Simpletech)
SeaGate = 240 GB = 139.99 or 129.99 @ Titles.

I was watching Apple at their recent conference where they introduced the iPhone 3GS and one presenter mentioned defragmentation and responded that no consumer should ever have to do that (or know what it means )

How can you avoid fragmentation though? You are bound to delete files and when more files are created they are put in every single space possible, which means having to fragment some files in order for them to fit. I don't think it's ever going to be unavoidable unless the computer can defragment itself (JKdefrag can actually do this, it'll start defragmenting when the screensaver appears and stop when you start using the computer again). But fragmentation will always occur no matter what.

I would opt for the 1TB, slightly more expensive but you'll practically never have to get another HD.

i like the Macbook Pro.
The screen is glossy but I load it on nearly minimal brightness and I almost always have my curtains down.

I'm no female Edward; my room has bay windows and it heads up and I suffer from enough headaches.

i can see fine when I tilt it back. If you find the screen is too glossy then, you may want to tilt it before you change the brightness settings or move indoors.

My keyboard had strange spots on it that I could not get off. I took it to the Apple store today and the Genius cleaned it and responded that there were no spots, which makes me wonder what he used.

I got the most basic model and will get my iPod touch for free once I send in the rebate.

I may get Microsoft Office or iWork...may...but right now I downloaded Openoffice.org and it seems to provide that basic functionality that I need.
That being said, I'll probably invest in an external drive, partition it, install Windows XP on it (I hope the 2 keys I have written down from several years back are genuine...probably not) and install my copy of Microsoft Office 2007 on it.

If I can't, then I'll be spending money on:
-AppleCare (which I think I'll purchase off a third party)
-An external drive
-Cases and something to cool the MBP = 100

So...it does require a bit more of an investment but....to me, it's something worth protecting.

there are things I don't like right now such as having a beautiful built in webcam and no compatible version of Windows Live to video chat. I think that's a bit petty of Microsoft but that's just me.

I find it an impressive piece of technology aesthetically as well and to be honest, I wouldn't mind if a new MBP came out that looked better because to me, this one is quite nice as is.

Thats because apples operating system automatically defragments the hard drive periodically. Another advantage of using os X.
