loud residence. what should i do?
It happens to me every friday
I live in this res (i will not mention the name this time, but it is well known as party res), and every friday they invite kids over and have like a drinking party in their res room.
I am also a heavy drinker and im cool with drinking but the noise level is just not right
and they have those loud musics on, loud voice etc.
so i can barely sleep at around 3am.
Especialy nowadays i am very stressed becus of my midterms but those kids won't shut up until at least 3am.
yesterday i was desperate to punch them and tell them to stfu.
Doesn't this violate some res rules or something?
Can i call the cops if this happens again?

Temporary solution, get ear plug from library or titles.
Long term solution (maybe), talk to your CA about it.

Bates, right? I feel your pain. My one roommate thinks its cool to play electric guitar at 100+ DB at 3:27 am...
Before the cops you should contact the appropriate floor's CA. All students in res are expected to abide by quiet hours, which means they need to be quiet by 11am on school nights and 1am on days where you don't have school in the morning. If they persist after the warning they will rack up minor infractions, which eventually pile up into a major infraction, 3 majors gets you kicked from rez.

There is always a CA on call and you can call the pager (or go down to front desk) to complain about the noise. As someone else stated, the quiet hours are 11pm Sunday-Thursday and 2am Friday and Saturday.
Earplugs and a fan in the background works for me.

lol @ using earplugs.
Approach them when they're sober and let them know its annoying that they are so loud at 3am.

In all honesty the CAs are your best friends. If they don't do anything, find another. They are obligated to help you.

lmao. The real solution is to not live in residence. But while passing the time until then, report them to your CA the moment any shit goes down. You may become hated on your floor, but if it bugs you, **** those kids. If you report them enough (anytime they are being obnoxiously loud for more than a few good laughs) they will be penalized. That happens enough, serious buzinez goes down.

Best thing to do: get the CA on call pager #, it should be somewhere in your residence lobby, and call them on Friday night when the noise level gets that loud! I've tried it last year, and it works.. Especially since no one wants to get a major..
