Nootropic recommendations?
Has anyone here tried any food or drugs to aid their memory or concentration; either before lectures or tests/exams? Are there any rules against this?

I used to take some sugar before tests.. but has anyone tried anything other than sugar or caffeine?

yeah, try weed, it really works wonders for your concentration...the government is trying to suppress this information because then the population will outsmart its leaders, that's why it's illegal

wake up sheeple

weed is fine and all but lets keep the topic on legal drugs as per the forum's code of conduct

Wait, you want a legal study drug?

You may have a tough time with that, unless you either use relatively untested chemicals (generally unscheduled) or get a script for Adderall...(possessin g it without one is illegal)

I've heard that voluntarily undergoing several hours of unconsciousness prior to lectures, tests, and exams can help you concentrate. As far as I know there are no rules against it although for some reason professors don't like when you do it as they're teaching.

As a nice bonus, you get to hallucinate vividly and then experience amnesia about the whole event, which might be the effect some of you are looking for.

^ It sounds like this...sleep thing that people are referring to.

The problem with legal medications (when you don't need them) is the side effects you can and will experience. A few of the big ones that people really care about is that you can become incredibly depressed, experience problems with sexual function and several long term side effects despite minimal use.

Why not reduce your course load and come back for another year instead of risking your money, health and mind on something that may cause more harm than good?

Of course you need a script for adderal in the US. It’s an amphetamine

This is the weirdest sh*t I have ever heard in my life. You actually suggest that getting knocked out by getting hit on the head with a baseball bat helps you stay focused on the exam?

Before a test, I usually take L-Theanine and caffeine a bit before. Not sure if it's placebo or not, but it helps me concentrate and focus a bit more. There is scientific evidence to back the combination up, but it seems to work better than anything else for me.

You don't need drugs.. just keep caffine (pop/coffee) and energy drinks out of your system and eat healthily and you shouldn't have any problems.

The 'I can't concentrate' feeling people tend to get is a psychological phenomenon related to how people nowadays form habits... don't get into the habit of constantly rewarding yourself with tv/movies/video games all day and you'll find the ability to sit down and crank out study hours a breeze.
