There's an interview of Paul Lieberstein (Toby Flenderson and writer for the show) in which he says there will be an application and interview process for more replacements that will occur on the show. It'll feature Dwight, and even new (temp) cast members such as Will Arnett, and more.

I can't believe Michael's actually gone, been following the show since day 1, he's become like a father figure to me now lol. but ya Deangelo never had the practical manager potential nor the equivalent likeability like Michael. with the recommendation, Dwight might have a chance in becoming manager, even if it's short-lived. does he still own the building?
