no i think they said this year they want like an actual photo, so if you lose your key they know its actually your room... and sneaky people can't pull the whole "i'm locked out of my room and don't have a key, can you let me in"... because they have pics of you. hahahaha
and i think like just a passport size is ok... like the one from ur student card.

Lock your door. You are told explicitly by res life staff to keep your door locked at all times. That is THE only way someone can't get into your room and steal stuff.
Also, don't let tail-gaters into the building. You can tell if someone lives in your res by the magnetic key card they have to open the door. if they don't live there, they won't have one, and thus could potentially steal if they're a bad person.
in years past there have been services offered for students to get their names permanently etched onto their laptops, so if it is stolen someone will end up having your name on the computer they're trying to sell and/or use.
you will be given strategies about stopping theft during your first floor meeting as well. (which occurs your first nite in res, usually sometime around 10pm)

Housing will only accept a recent photo., not a student I.D. from Grade 9.

It doesn;t have to be a passport kind of picture right? Cause I paid 13$ to gte passport pictures for the student card (when it turned out I didn't need to) and I threw out the second picture that came with it and I'm not paying again! lol

I'm honestly not sure, as I am sure are the upper year students as we don't have the information infront of you first year students.
If the requirements are to bring in a photo do so, and make sure it is recent. Additionally, make sure you have some sort of photo ID.
Unfortunately that's all we can really tell you.

Regarding the housing photo for lost keys: It doesn't have to be passport sized (it can be any size), but as others have said, it has to be recent. Print a recent facebook picture if you'd like, just make sure it clearly shows your face.

Last year when I had a meal plan I discovered a website that had a breakdown of every meal plan available. The cool thing about it was that it showed you how much money you should have remaining on your card WEEKLY. So it was easy to check in on that chart often to make sure I was staying on track. I think I searched "Meal Plan Budget" in the McMaster main page in order to find it. So I'm not sure if they will still have it there, but it's worth a try!
