Mhmm it was working for a while and then all of a sudden it didn't go through when they scanned it. Oh well now I have a photo health card with a photo of me where I look incredibly sick (not the good way)

This is TRUE. I'd suggest keeping your red and white card unless you are not getting a driver's license for some reason and need a government issued photo ID. The red and white one never expires. I will never replace mine with a photo one...I was advised to keep it by a Ministry representative who might get in trouble for doing so

You've never heard of the red and white health card? O_O
That's... shocking. What did you use as a kid?
I still use my red and white health card. Still valid for me! ^_^

lol, my red and white health card went through the washing machine and dryer about 10 times and finally just fall apart one day.
I like the new one better; since it has a picture and a cool pattern.

I think I've had the green one for as long as I can remember, maybe my parents had the old one. It's not like I went to the doctor often anyway XD

Same here. I've always used the red and white one until I got a letter about 2 years ago saying I had to get the new green one.

I'm still using the red and white one though the edges are peeling a bit. I'm so lazy, if I don't have to change it I won't until it falls apart. I think there's a fee involved in changing it too?

I don't recall paying a fee...
It wouldn't make sense for them to force someone to change their card and then have them pay for it. Especially if the previous card still works.

Actually, I wouldn't expect any less of the government.

Well, they would have to if the government invalidates all the old health cards...

There's no fee . If you change it, however, you will have to renew it again after a period of time.

I think it's every 5 years? Very annoying.
