Does that mean not every room has an AC?! What about heating?

Every room has heating. Not every room has A/C, it's not needed as it would only be used for a week, maybe two max.

Hey I lived in bates last year and imo living in an apartment style residence is amazing. In terms of getting to know your roommates, there is a good sized living area which you all could possibly get together and watch tv etc... In terms of what things to bring, I contacted all of my roommates before hand and we discussed what each of needed to bring.

anotehr thing to do, is maybe see if your roomies will be attending welcome day. If they are you can always meet up with them and discuss what you need to bring. I lived in Bates as well, we brought stuff like cutlery, dishes, toliet paper, towels. People tend to forget the small stuff, but those tend to be some of the more important ones

Yeah, definitly contact your roommates because you don't want to end up with 1000 rolls of toilet paper because you all decided you'd bring in a year's supply of toilet paper.
On the other hand,
Don't freak out too much if you happen to forget something you have many options such as asking your parents to come drop it off at a later date, or even just stepping outside of the campus. You're not living in the middle of nowhere, there are stores and such where you can pick up little things you may have forgotten such as paper towels and toilet paper.

lol but im lazy haha...i hate walking outside of campus ....although 1000 rolls of toilet paper in Bates is great cuz you can TP someone else's rooms....or you can do what my room did and start throwing toilet paper rolls at each other....its good room bonding

Thanks for all the tips guys.

I was just wondering, is a fan needed/necessary for Sept. esp. in Bates because there's no A/C. Also do they send out a what to pack list or do we pack whatever ourselves?

What are the most essiential things you HAVE to pack for res in general besides clothes, supplies? and for those of u in Bates or Keyes, how often did u cook and what are the most important items for the kitchen?

Bates was fine with a window open. If you get hot very easily, then you may want to bring one. I don't think they give you a list...

I cooked quite a bit and got a reduced meal plan as I knew I would get sick of the cafe food. Staples: bread, pb, fruit that has a long shelf-life (apples, oranges). Important things to bring are small pots, cutting boards, a frying pan, cutlery, dishes and cooking utensils. I would e-mail your roommates and then you can split the items. You may want to have a microwave as well.

I personally would really recommend getting a fan for at least the beginning of the year... if welcome week is anything like last year, you'll probably be melting in your apartments unless you're lucky enough to get one of the rooms that just don't heat up.

For cooking stuff, I lived in Bates and will be living in Keyes this year. I tend to use my meal plan alot, but if I were to make something, I'd make like KD, or soup n stuff. Bring a toaster, some cooking trays and stuff. Skillets or a good wok would be sweet! Your meal plan will help you out alot, I found that I either didnt have the time to cook, or I just didnt want to in Bates.

Just out of curiosity. What size are the beds in residence? Twin or twin extra-long? I'm looking to buy some new sheets and I want to make sure I get the correct size. Thanks! =)

they are like singles, unless you're really tall you can request to get an extra long bed.
