It's defaulted to that amount. It says something about it in red(i think) near the top of the page. It supposed to change when they find out about your residence and meal plan.

No AC? No problem! Bring a fan! It's only really hot for the first couple of weeks. Then, fall/autumn hits!

Last year's welcome week was ridiculously hot. Hopefully this year will be a lot cooler.

Last year's welcome week was ridiculous...
I had a fan on full power facing my bed (without it rotating), the fan being less than a foot away from my bed due to the size of Bates rooms, and I was still sweating...

hi! i will be in a double room in Brandon next year and i have a couple questions!:
1) im rooming with my best friend, have there been a lot of good turn outs about this? we are in some of the same classes, but im REALLY hoping we wont get sick of each other
2) I hear there is AC in Brandon hall, (or isnt there?) and if there is, should i bring a fan as well, does the AC not work well, and will it get hot and stuffy?
thanks !

Problem: Still don't know what residence I'm in.
I'm kind of freakin out that at the last minute they're going to say 'We're out of space- go find yourself some offcampus housing!'
Have they had an overcrowding problem like this ever before??

Are you guaranteed residence? Or are you on the waiting list? 'Cus these are two completely different scenarios.
I'm pretty sure Mac had to deal with a huge influx of students during the double cohort years. I wouldn't worry too much -- the worst they could do is to have more double/triple rooms.

Flag,
It happened last year. There were quite a few people that were "unassigned" As long as they told you that you are guaranteed residence, you WILL get a space in residence. It's quite annoying but really, there are quite a few people that drop out of residence because they're unhappy of what they've been assigned and such. Just hold tight!

I've heard good and bad stories about best friends living together in residence. It's really difficult to say for sure what your dynamics will be. But the good news is that because there are so many other people in residence, you can always find someone else to hang out with if you're sick of your roomate.
There is AC in Brandon Hall but I think it might be central air-conditioning. I lived on 11th floor of Brandon last year but I never needed a fan. You really only need AC during September anyways given how long Canadian winters are, lol.

This was asked on another thread, but I just wanted to make sure, do the bunk & loft rooms have a fridge? And is it usually enough for 3 people?
Thanks!

rooming in bates
I'm rooming with one friend, and for the longest time, the two other rooms were -empty- now, it's occupied with roommates. How is it living in an apartment style, what should we do to get to know each other, and do we contact each other before hand to figure out who's bringing what, or leave it till after we move in?

I think it's better to "break the ice" and contact them now, that's what I've done with my roomates as well. that was as the conversation moves on, you guys can decide who will bring what.. and such.. Especially since you guys will probably want a Tv. Dvd etc for apartment style

It has AC. Noise, socializing, and fun depend on the people.
