Early evening on Wednesday is fine by me. Around 7-ish? I'd prefer it not being too late being off campus and all.

Wow, I stopped getting the email notifications so I thought everyone lost interest!
I have a facebook group, but if the one created alreay is working well we'll just go from there.
This week I am around, and available to give a lesson. However, a location may be difficult to find on such short notice.

there are pretty much always empty classrooms available after 6:30.
Also, the wednesday after we get back is the only evening that I can't do :(

I joined Mac Insiders just for this... lol.
Hey Chuck, do you have a room for a bassist? Well, I guess my question would be, do you teach bass at all? I've been playing for a while (casually mostly, last I played with an instructor was in high school), it'd be nice to play with others again. I'd like to learn further with it, I love playing bass.
If not, then that's fine. I'm planning on purchasing a guitar once I get enough money together... so you'll have another guitar noob in your presence.

Hey Victis,
Ofcourse I can show you some things on bass. Afterall, A bassist is just a guitarist that couldn't handle 6 strings. OH man! I'm just kidding!
But bassists can benefit HUGE from knowing theory and certain techniques I can show you. A change in a bass line can completely alter a song, even if the guitar and drums repeat.

Are you michael S? I just got the email to accept you into the group (although I can't accept you on my phone), so I'll do it after class.
And if you're not michael, I think you asked to join the wong group

There are unearthly players than can do wonders with a 6 string bass.
And because of our larger string gauges single note finger dexterity is pretty good... though a pain with chords. >_<
Yes, it's the theory and techniques that I'm after, so I'm really looking forward to it. Specifically I'm after string tapping rather than slap and pop, just to give a heads up. Regardless, I'll look forward to this coming together.
I have a question regarding electric players though (such as myself) , what happens with the amps? Is it really necessary for the play alongs? I'm asking because bass particularly can't be heard well unplugged. I have my own amp, but I don't want to walk around with it to and fro... I'm cheap and carless, so all I do is bus or walk. I'm guessing we can just play together without amps just fine. I'll just be extra quieter than the bunch. ^_^

I have a mini-rig I bring everywhere with my electric guitar.
It's a Vox Amplug AC30 and a pair of iPod speakers.

VH, from all your posts in the guitar threads around here you seem to have everything.
That is a great alternative though. I've tried looking for the Vox Bass for a long while now, but no luck. I was just thinking that I would purchase a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter and plug my speakers directly to my bass. Not sure if it's going to work though. Just an idea.
Also, there's one thing I want to point out about my bass playing. Ever since I've played by myself without an instructor, I've somewhat butchered my sense of timing and rhythm. So have some patience with me on that.

Dude, constant practice with a metronome or a drum machine is really important.
I am a guitar-gear whore! . No, the speakers won't work directly with a bass.
You need a pre-amp to do that. A Line6 Pocket POD is what I would recommend as a portable rig.

Hey, Unplugged will be preffered for the lessons, and a guitar is not even needed, but may help. This is because I know musicians, and especially guitarists, they can't hold a guitar for 3 seconds without playing! And you guys know it's true!
However, it would be ideal to have 'Jams' aswell, where we can play songs and use concepts we learned together.

True dat!
I'm in for a lesson, a jam, or something that involves me and a guitar. LOL.
Sadly, I am terribly busy this week. :(
