Wow... I stopped reading this thread for a while, and like all threads on this site, it completely changed to a different topic. Somebody should collect all the data and figure out approximately how many posts it takes for a thread to derail.

-the world is full of idiots who have no drive in anything
How many other 'lowly members of the MSU' have started even one initiative on this site?
Think about it.
-------------------
EDIT: By the way, I'm deliberately not adding my input to your initiative because, to paraphrase your own words, I'm good with numbers, but things in the real world escape me a little bit (which has reasonable truth to it).
EDIT 2: To clarify: Not out of spite...I'm saying I'm not good at political things.

But dunno, maybe my habit seeing flaws in things and "immediately" looking for solutions to it is something uncommon? Probably not everyone tends to look at how it can be improved and focuses too much on what is wrong? Grr Dunno I only wish I could see things from other people's perspectives and find out what makes them tick :S
I understand Edit #1 as well, for example I still haven't understood the rationale behind that numerical riddle even after your explanation, even though I can solve the question itself! That comes naturally to you though.
Oh Well.

lol, by the way you're both writing, I have the strange suspicion that you are both raging behind your computers, and are trying as hard as possible to not start throwing profanities at each other.
I guess filtering rage through tl;dr is what keeps us one step above the threads on IMDB .

LOL I wouldn't say I was pissed off at all, this isn't a random 4chan/imdb/youtube comment forum where people cut each other to pieces. I fully understand his point of view and I'm assuming he does as well, I'm a social science student and if you spend a small amount of time reading about various topics in it you'll realize that people much much more educated then us behave much much worse when their is a conflict of opinion. Actually a university student should welcome any opposition to his viewpoint, it only serves to enhance his "education" and possibly helps him see things from another perspective. You see Mike and myself are two people from completely different educational backgrounds, he is a numbers quantitative guy and I am a micro level qualitative person. So I actually enjoy seeing his pov!
p.s: Dillon weren't you the guy who said he enjoyed trolling/creeping random
forums, lol well I can understand why you are "assuming" I am bloody pissed, cause I've myself(to my horror) seen people go ballistic/politically incorrect/racist on those places, their arguments 99% of the time are pretty irrational and non-academic.

I seen quite a few posts in my time go from being civil to absolute rage. It happens a lot IRL too, and a lot of TV shows profit off it (i.e. Jerry Springer; he trolls RL by putting people he know will fight together).

And what do you base that on? Either I use the profanities or I don't...seems like lose-lose to me, regardless of what I say, I'm always the mad raging nerd, foaming at the mouth in private. However...Is it impossible to have any sort of discussion without raging behind the computer? Certainly not.
That's what we in the business call a contradiction.
And no, I'm not mad...this is just how I talk. lol

And to point out again, there's nothing quantitative about what I do, lol. All sign of numbers have left my particular discipline in 3rd year.

There can't be people out there who seriously still believe Jerry Springer is real...

Like I said, I'm basing it on how it's written :p It reminds me of those kinds of threads where people try to stay at a neutral standpoint to remain polite, but then freak out all of a sudden (kind of like a lot of the initially intelligent discussion threads on IMDB that break down into chaos).

Alright, then he's trolling all his viewers by creating a hoax. He's trolling IRL regardless of how you look at it.

lol probably, but I meant that in a different way, like for example you tend to view things in a scientific way while I'm more introspective/theoretical, that's supposed to be opposite ends of the scale right?

@Dillon: Then you must be mistaken. :p
@Huzaifa: I think what you want to say is your method of deduction is experiential and grounded in real world events...while mine is abstract and grounded in 'ideas that you make up and assume are true' :p (called axioms)

UPDATE
Actually I think the BOD and EB is very well aware of the issue!
Here is a quote from the June 2nd Meeting Minutes for EB:
Quote:
McGowan – Addressing the naming of Quarters. The Health Centre is no longer carrying Oral Contraceptives so this will be a big issue for the upcoming year.
|
The minutes are rather concise so I'm not sure if any EB member commented on it or if any plan was laid out to lobby about this issue.
