I'm getting sick of all these people with good jobs, well PAYING jobs, complaining when there's people who've been laid off and totally screwed over. At least you have a job!

*shakes head*

I agree, the administration should accept the union's offer.

You guys don't practice reading threads do you. Here's a quick rundown:
- until now, these people had a fixed pension and good job
- now university wants to GAMBLE PENSION ON SHITTY STOCK MARKET
- whatever the result is what workers get in the end
- WORKERS PISSED

tell me how they're supposed to sit there while this happens. I know money's tight, I was saying the same thing as you before I found this out, but you(university) don't need TO GAMBLE WITH PEOPLES PENSIONS. If they were asking for something stupid, I would understand, but here it's the administration who's being in the wrong from what I gather.

I've had to deal with the OC Transpo strike in Ottawa, and that was really hard on me. I don't want another strike.

But what is up with Ontario and strikes?! Ontario teachers, Ontario nurses, Ottawa bus drivers, Toronto garbage workers, City of Toronto workers, driving test examiners (sp?) from the MOT....

Most people don't get a private pension. They should feel lucky that they get anything at all. It's not the employers fault if these people don't prepare for their retirement.

So, a lot of the people I've talked to are holding off on paying tuition. Are a lot of you feeling the same way?

No, I've paid my tuition already. We're not going to be losing class time... I'm planning on graduating this year... and if I do end up having to stay longer due to a lost year, I'm not going to be a happy camper.

I'm looking forward to having a real job and a decent annual income (ie more than $12000).

Nevertheless, holding off on paying your tuition is dangerous... you could end up owing a lot of money, and in a short amount of time.

I guess we're both right, depending on which type of nurse.

That's like saying many people in the world earn ~$7000/year (World Bank, 2005). They should feel lucky that they get anything at all.
