Lol Sooo I guess "Scarborough" is sort of a rough crazy town isn't it? The arsonist hails from there and kids write "threatning" remarks about teachers [ ]

Pssh, I'm from Scarborough, and it's not that bad.
As to the guy on the internet getting expelled over facebook thing, I remember that, it happened really close to my high school at another one called Birchmount. Some kid made a group calling his principal a fat pig or something, and the school found it. They suspended the kid, and then all the students made a protest saying that the school was "infringing on their rights to freedom of speech". What was even dumber was what happened afterwards... the police eventually showed up, and somekids attempted to attack them by throwing bottles, and one even tried to hit an officer in the head with a skateboard. All in all, they got their asses kicked, and ended up being arrested and expelled. The kid who did the whole thing ended up being expelled also.
Talk about a bunch of retards...

k everyone has this impression that Scarbrough is the worst part of Toronto. It's really not. Some parts are worse than others. I find it sick that the media always focuses on Scarbrough like its the Bronx or some little place where crime is just thriving. I grew up in Scarbrough as well, and there is nothing bad. Stuff happens everywhere, but we only hear about it when the media plays it out

I personally hate it when people just critize Scarborough this way..makes me sick..
Just cause this dude is from Scarborough doesnt make Scarborough a bad place..Its like saying that Brandon Hall was one dangerous hall where future frosh to stay from..if thas the case, then so be it..but Scarborough isnt like that, I've lived there all my life and I can say without a doubt Scarborough is better than Hamilton in many aspects...I guess one big example is the lack of actual retailer stores and the fact theres way to many two way roads here..is it a violent city..ya it is..but like any other city in Canada, you really shouldnt be outside at 4am in the morning..
Sorry if I upset a few people but all Im saying is once something big happens in your neighbourhood, you'd do the same by defending where you come from..

Ya... I'm pretty pissed that no big stores aside from Fortino's have taken advantage of potentially being close to a big university full of students here...

I think since this topic is still too controversial (Scarborough is now being dragged into a subject of argument), the thread should be locked until further notice. Just my thought/suggestion, I'm not trying to run the place.

I've never been to Scarborough but from what students who are from there have told me, I've never really wanted to go. People from Scarborough often tell me it's a rough neighbourhood and such and that is why I have never really fancied going. Nevertheless, the fact that Emerson is from Scarborough is really just a fact. It doesn't make Scarborough more/less dangerous. Kenvin100 does make a good point. Just because there is ONE individual who happens to have lived there doesn't affect the entire city. If Mother Teresa was born and raised in Scarborough would the city suddenly be considered a great place?

From a broader perspective, Scarborough isn't bad. I mean, it's just Canada. Relatively speaking, it's very safe here.
