Would it be a good idea to bring plastic plates? the only thing stopping me is heating up my food in the microwave

Thanks for that, it makes me feel a little better knowing i'm not going to be the only person they'll be staring at. Well hopefully all goes well!

I brought plastic plates, although I wouldn't recommend heating food on them even if it says it's microwave safe.

If you plan on bringing back lots of food from home then you might as well bring a ceramic plate.

Near Commons, don't worry about it though. There are tons of people on campus that can help you get to where you want to go.

I remember a lot of half naked people surrounding me when I got out of my car.

Think of it this way; a lot of other people will will feel pretty awkward and have their strange parents hanging around them..

Don't be embarassed about your mom being there. Just think, there are probably many other people moving in who would give anything to have their mom/dad with them but can't, for whatever reason.

It will be fun! Positive attitude

I'm a little more positive about it but trust me, the added attention and knowing how my mom gets won't be a good thing.
Ah well, I have no choice in the matter so might as well try and roll with it.

How does parking work on move-in day? Will we have to pay for parking, or will it be free while we are moving our stuff in?

It's free in M lot. There will be tons of people directing your car there after all of your stuff is unloaded, so you don't really need to worry about it

Great. Should we be worried about the lot being full?

It shouldn't be. It's 1/4 of residences per 4 hours (1/2 of residence moves in per day) and Lot M is pretty big since it's off-campus.
