Man, just the existence of this thread exemplifies exactly how a university is not supposed to work :p

Haha, this is just the grown up version of Pokemon trading cards. If SOLAR and class size capping weren't around, it'd be so wonderful.

Do these things open up again? Do classes get added? Like I feel ripped off.
I know alot of "bird courses" so to speak, will fill up fast... but French?? Common what happened...

I know how you feel, I felt that french would be the only class i was 100% sure to get into :( and even though I got into SOLAR only an hour late.. cuz of traffic.. it was already full :(. I guess we have to wait till AUgust when people start dropping and/or switching courses. :(

If you have a long French background, I would include it. I'm sure there are many people that would like to minor in French. If you show that you have more years of experience in your background compared to other people they may open a seat for you instead of other people.
After all, would you give a seat to someone who wants to minor but only have 2 or 3 years of experience? Or would you rather give a seat to someone who has learnt French for their entire lives?
It's all about dedication and if they see you are more dedicated than others that may just give you an edge.

Well I'm looking to get into Origins 2FF3 or Math 1AA3, but I doubt I have courses that other people actually want (they're all second year Bio, Chem and Psych Courses).
When does solar re-open for everyone?

For those who completed their payment agreement, I believe it's the 13th, and it re-opens for all on the 18th.

I don't see why they wouldn't consider you over someone who has less experience than you. Chances are people with only a couple years of French will not complete the minor compared to someone who has given their time and effort for many many years. That's my way of thinking, the French department could think in a totally different way.
