There's a facebook group apparently going on about "The Rusty Scholar" (see here), any idea where that came from?

I like the idea of "The Station" although I think the Sterling part is a bit much. 1280 is also pretty cool sounding.

I'm definately a fan of 1280, its simple and far classier than "the rusty scholar"

Haha I was missing something totally obvious...and Sterling Station wouldn't be too bad, the "Street" was killing it.

"The Rusty Scholar" is no longer an option I believe due to the large number of students that don't like it. That was merely a name that that got the highest votes through a straw vote. Instead, it was shortened down to just "The Scholar".

Did anybody watch Student Bodies when they were a kid? Well that place they always went to was called The Station. It's got sort of a nice ring to it. I think it depends on what the place looks like you know?

Yeah, the name will probably play a role in determining what the theme of the place will be like.

Honestly, what's wrong with the name Quarters in the first place?

But since they really want to change it, I vote for 1280!

Quarters wasn't a bad name but as a few users have already explained, the reasoning behind the new name is to get rid of the stigma associated with it. It gives the place a chance to start off completely fresh (new look, new feel and new name).

I really don't like 1280 or The Scholar. I could see The Phoenix being called The Scholar, but not Quarters. I get that 1280 is because of school's address, but I don't know - it sounds cheesey to me.

I like the idea of having Union in the name. Union Market, McMaster Student Union .. it ties it all together. Union Station sounds kind of stupid because we're not in Toronto. Sterling Station doesn't sound very good either.

I vote for The Union.

But if it's called "1280", the real question is, how will it be pronounced?

1) One thousand two hundred and eighty
2) One Two Eight Zero
3) Twelve Eight Zero
4) One Two Eighty
5) Twelve Eighty

I personally prefer the first one because it takes the longest to say and is guaranteed to frustrate people over time.

Geek says thanks to Ownaginatios for this post.
