You choose whichever fits your schedule best (note that your cores - 1 or 2 - will be auto selected for you first in August and then you can change into C01 or C02 if you don't like which one was automatically picked for you). So when you go into SOLAR it will just let you pick the course 'Biology 1M03' but won't list any CORES (C01 or C02) until August.
As for the days, I'm not sure why. It could be that the first core has 3 lectures and no tutorials (the prof wanted to teach more lectures?) while the second core has 2 lectures and a tutorial? Not sure.

Chad,
Since solar is now selecting our lab and tutorial sections, will it randomly select the sections until there are no conflicts? Or will solar make a timetable that will be easy to work with?
....Had such a good timetable too :(

I only had two courses with tutorials, and I didn't get a choice. I'm hoping I will get to change it in August...
I really liked the system they developed last year!!

@Duncanson,
The system will automatically select your cores, tutorials, and labs so that they DO NOT conflict. If it isn't able to find a way to make your tutorials/labs not conflict (ie. if theres only 1 tutorial choice and it conflicts no matter what) then your timetable you get in August will notify you that you need to change your course to something else that doesn't conflict.
NOTE: It is still useful to plan out your cores, tutorials, and labs, because if you worked out the perfect schedule already, in August once you get assigned the sections you can go into SOLAR and change them to what you planned instead

@Chad,
Hehe, okay. It just seemed really odd how solar would change from total freedom to automatic :p. At least we can change it around after so its not that bad .
Thanks buddy!

Ya, I would prefer total freedom as well and be able to pick the tutorials/labs. But looks like we'll have to wait for that to be implemented in the future

when we pick courses for example for the electives available for first year students, for example anthropology, they offer 1A03, 1B03, 1Z03, do we have to take all 3, or just any one?

No, you don't have to take all courses, you can take only one. However, if you ever plan on minoring in your elective (it of course depends on how many courses of electives you get each year), you would need to take two.
