A campus club by any other name...
As much as I love up to the minute updates on the new name, I'm still waiting for (and much more interested in) updates regarding how much money is being spent, how the physical redesign is being implemented and what timelines/controls are in place. I'd also like to know more about how the RFQ for the whole project went down.

As Quarters renovations progress, there will updates posted on the MSU website. If you have trouble navigating the site, please go into the MSU office and speak to Andrew Caterine, VP Finance, or send any of the Board of Directors an email.

What's Happening With The Quarters Renovations?
Early in 2009, the organization began a request for proposal process to receive submissions for the re-development of Quarters. After receiving three different construction bids from project management teams, the decision to choose Ira McDonald was made at the end of April. During this time, interested parties which included members of the Board of Directors, The MSU Business Manager, Quarters Management, Avtek, Campus Events and the project management team began meeting to discuss the process and direction that would be necessary for the establishment.
As many know, the McMaster Students Union, with the approval from the Student Representative Assembly, allocated $400,000 towards the renovations of Quarters. On June 13th, 2009, the MSU furthered its commitment to the project by approving the actual expenditure of $375,000 for the improvements.
In order to complete this project on time for the upcoming academic year, Ira McDonald began demolition which included the dismantling of the main dividing wall and bars. In efforts to keep all students informed about the process, the Board of Directors will be posting weekly photo and status updates on the project.
For any information regarding the project details, timeline or preliminary design, please contact the Board of Directors or visit MUSC 201.

Victor, I think the 375k allocation has been posted and discussed here in detail before, so what I think Alex wanted was a more detailed breakdown of the 375k and where exactly is the money going and what all is being spent into what all sector :S I've looked at the document list for the June 13th session just now and it isn't there :S But they should hopefully be posting it up alongside the latest set of pictures soon!
Edit: I also do remember an SRA member telling me that when they passed the 375k motion, there was an "impressive" and convincing presentation for IRA MacDonald; the SRA might even have gotten handouts. Maybe the BOD could publish that? Just a thought....

The Downstairs John was on the MSU's list of names but not on the MacInsiders list.
The Downstairs John has significant historic significance to McMaster Alumni and would be a powerful name to use in that it would help encourage Alumni attendance at Football games and Alumni Functions.

When we were initially given the list the poll on the MSU website did not exist. We can't change the poll now without completely skewing the results. Adding a second poll would still be statistically inaccurate as well, since there are so many variables that aren't accounted for.
We're trying our best. Thank you for not being condescending...
Oh...wait...

i agree. 1280 is not a 375k worthy name. the name is what generates attention and attention is what generates "dough". hmm... i say we scrap 1280 and come up with better names. i say we call it "liberty'
