lol we beat you guys with our 3rd string goalie! a shutout too!
Habs are over-rated. They have 4 regulation wins in 27 games, and if it wasn't for their OT record they might have been below the leafs.

what do you guys think about the recent trade made today? do you think Burke made a wise choice in sending Tlusty to the Canes?

Tlusty was going to be a RFA by the end of this year, and it would have been a problem if he decided to go over to Europe. We would have lost him for nothing.
Tlusty was a star in AHL but he did not perform much in NHL which is what we need. Anyways, he was not a burke type player so shouldn't be surprised.
Leafs are finally winning, 5 pts out of the playoffs, and 3 pts behind the habnots. Kessel with 10 goals in last 13 games, who said we need a savard for him??

Pretty bad performance by the leafs. It doesn't help the fact that Boston was probably pretty mad for losing 5-1 to montreal. The bottom line is leafs are still a 20-25th place team while boston is prolly a top 5 team.
Rask trade will haunt us for years...he played great, and even managed to get an assist.

The Leafs are hopeless. It's gonna be a long time before we see them as good as they were between 1998 and 2004.

they arn't hopeless. its just that managment needs to actually start caring. they just sit back and don't really give a damn since money is always pouring in...

really? in the salary cap era, they can't reallly do much.
Managment would love to put a playoff team on the ice if they love the money. Each playoff would bring in more than $1 million per game, not to mention rising PPV rating, merchandise sales, they would love it if the leafs can make the playoffs.

well sure they would but the maple leafs are the highest grossing NHL franchise. they make something like $500,000,000 a year even without playoffs. $1 million is pocket change. And even without the salary cap sure they made playoffs but produce results? no. They had their chance they failed. After that lockout... no playoffs...
if they really, truly wanted to bring this franchise back to glory (which i hope they do soon!!) they would go out there and make the team so that players want to come to Toronto. Right now its obvious they don't care. Look at Detroit.. they have players that are underpaid because its such a great place to play.. they want to win... leafs on the other hand i don't know what they want.... now that sundin is gone on a bad note... the team lacks any real leadership... players like blake, and hagman need to produce thats what they were brought in here for and after the way leafs treat players (overpaying one season wonders, giving away key draft picks, giving up on draft picks) who wants to come play for them?

Hagman isn't producing? he has 14 goals and is on pace for 35 goals.
I would agree with you on Blake.
Now for TO to become a good team, they are rebuilding and it will take time, just gotta be patient. This is their first year, it can't be done in 1 season.
Kessel is looking really good so far, he is a point/game player atm on pace for a 40+ goal season. It is not easy to acquire star players especially under the salary cap era.
